"Disenchanted" es la duodécima pista del álbum The Black Parade de My Chemical Romance. Según el vocalista, Gerard Way, esta es una de las canciones más antiguas del álbum.

Alteración de la canción [editar]

La canción fue originalmente conocida como "Shut up and play" o "Disenchanted (Shut up and play)" la cual fue interpretada en algunos de los conciertos de MCR hasta finales del 2005. La canción fue originalmente muy distinta a la actual, contenía letras más simples y era más corta que la que sale actualmente en el álbum The Black Parade.

La historia del Paciente [editar]

Aquí encontramos al Paciente una vez más recordando su vida. Reflexionando y molesto por sus últimos años, pero se siente afortunado porque tuvo una buena infancia: "I Hate the ending myself but it started with an all right scene" ("Odio mi final, pero esto empezó con una buena escena."). El no se preocupaba por su vida, desperdiciaba su tiempo viendo a sus "heroes" en la TV. Y se pregunta si "importara (todo lo que recuerda) cuando ya se haya ido", mas aun cuando a el nunca le intereso nada. Él ve su vida nada más que como una canción triste,(You're just a sad song with nothing to say about a life long wait for a hospital stay)español: "Eres una canción triste con nada que decir acerca de una vida esperando una estadía en el hospital" y es dejado en un estado de depresión y desesperanza. Vive rencoroso con su vida. Este puede ser el punto más bajo en la historia, una especie de "clímax", en el que se reclama a si mismo por la manera en la que vivió, y por la manera en la que dejara este mundo, el llevar toda una vida esperando una cita en un hospital, a pesar de que "Famous last words" (aunque es el fin de la historia) también es clímax y la resolución de la historia
